Scope: US retail foreign exchange, checked 17 October 2026. This is an evidence-based description, not a broker endorsement. Product names and advertised minimum spreads do not guarantee customer eligibility or a quoted fill.

Start with GAIN Capital Group LLC

The FOREX.com US legal notice identifies the US operator as GAIN Capital Group LLC, doing business as FOREX.com, and reports CFTC registration as an FCM and RFED and NFA membership 0339826. These are statements from the firm’s legal disclosures. The independent CFTC registration-check guide directs customers to verify current status and disciplinary history through NFA BASIC. We have not independently authenticated that specific live BASIC record, so registration is broker-declared here, not confirmed by our newsroom.

This distinction matters: a trade through a US forex entity is not the same contractual relationship as an account opened with a UK or international FOREX.com entity.

Two pricing structures with different trade-offs

The official US account comparison distinguishes Spread-Only from RAW Pricing. Its Spread-Only structure places the main FX transaction charge within the bid–ask spread and lists no separate forex commission. The RAW Pricing model advertises reduced variable spreads plus USD 7 per USD 100,000 of notional traded, per side. The US trading cost schedule explains that opening and closing are separate charged trades.

Here is a transparent calculation—not a promise of your actual cost. Suppose someone opens and closes 100,000 units of EUR/USD at an assumed 1.1000, representing USD 110,000 notional at each leg. At the documented USD 7 per USD 100,000 commission rate, the assumed commission is USD 7.70 on entry and USD 7.70 on exit: USD 15.40 round-trip, before any spread, financing or conversion. If rates or size change between legs, actual charges change too. A separate Spread-Only account has no commission on those FX legs under the quoted schedule, but pays its variable spread instead.

Do not confuse “as low as 0.0” with a typical fill

The US pricing page mentions spreads as low as zero pips on selected pairs. The firm’s trade-prices disclosure distinguishes observed typical or median spreads from minima and dates its observations. Zero is neither a guaranteed spread nor necessarily an economically free round-trip trade. You must compare consistent time-of-day spread observations plus commissions, funding, slippage and fees.

The best comparison is not “Who advertises a smaller minimum?” but “At my trade size and holding period, what was the all-in cost across a representative sample?” Our comparison worksheet provides the accounting structure without claiming unverifiable live results.

Which platforms go with which account?

FOREX.com’s US comparison table lists proprietary web/mobile interfaces and TradingView connections. It distinguishes MT4 availability for its spread-only offer from MT5 access for RAW Pricing; precise combinations may change. Readers who need automated trading must confirm platform, order support, expert adviser compatibility and data-export limitations for their specific account, not rely on a generic MetaTrader badge.

Check the conditions a summary table cannot settle

We have not verified every US funding or withdrawal route, third-party currency charges, inactivity conditions, execution statistics across volatile sessions, or complaint history. Request the governing schedule and agreement at application time. Forex margin can produce substantial losses, and stop orders may slip.

Common mistakes and limits

It would be misleading to treat the published USD 7 commission as the entire transaction cost; compare a US offer with a non-US fee page; claim that a minimum spread is typical; or recommend an account based on platform marketing. We do none of these. Recheck this report’s dated claims at the source pages and official NFA registration register before trading.
