The Market Ledger / Our standards

How we examine a forex broker.

Every published claim must have an identifiable source and a scope. Every unknown remains an unknown.

What our profiles currently mean

We study the legal entity named in a primary broker document, its jurisdiction-specific account descriptions, fee tables and platform capabilities. Research dates and links are shown directly in articles. These are desk-research dossiers. We have not claimed first-hand testing, current independent license confirmation or successful withdrawals.

The evidence ladder

  1. Official regulator record: For a US intermediary, check CFTC guidance and the NFA BASIC register. For UK entities, consult the FCA Firm Checker. We have not completed authenticated live checks for every published entity; firm-supplied registration numbers remain labeled accordingly.
  2. Contractual and official firm documents: Fee schedules, account agreements, platforms, funding and withdrawal terms from the exact relevant region and legal entity. When a requested term is absent, mark it unverified.
  3. Independent product testing: Dated executable quotes, demo workflow trials, documented account statements, measured execution and verifiable costs. Not yet performed by this publication.
  4. Third-party tests and community reports: Outside research informs questions worth asking, never substituted for verified first-hand outcomes or official enforcement findings.

How we compare prices

We normalize legal entity, trading product, base and quote currency, size, session, market condition and holding period. All-in cost includes variable spread, entry and exit commission, financing, slippage, currency conversion and other account charges. A minimum published spread never becomes an average or expected fill in our tables.

What we learned from other broker research directories

ForexBrokers.com emphasizes structured hands-on methodology and holistic trading costs. Myfxbook organizes broker listings around platforms, ratings and pricing. Forex Peace Army emphasizes trading experiences and complaints. Those publicly accessible references inspired our research questions and navigation, not copied wording, scores, rankings, user reviews, proprietary test results or images. Any sponsored placements or ratings belong to their publishers, not us.

What is not scored

We currently award no “most trusted,” “cheapest,” “best overall,” or star ratings. A score would require a published rubric, representative costs, documented jurisdictional eligibility, editorial review, and conflict controls. We do not infer that a popular broker on a community directory is suitable, licensed in a reader's country or safe from failure.

Customer-experience evidence

Anonymous allegations can be useful indicators of a potential issue, but we do not reproduce them as verified fact or attribute wrongdoing without documentation. A complaint should be evaluated against its date, the actual entity, contract, independent evidence and official findings. For personal risk decisions, seek an independent qualified advisor and the appropriate official regulator.

Commercial relationships and corrections

These dossiers contain no broker paid placement or affiliate-tracking URLs. Inclusion is not an endorsement. Financial relationships must be disclosed before any new commercial arrangement begins. Readers can consult our affiliate disclosure, editorial policy, correction process and risk notice.

Open research gaps as at 17 October 2026

Independent live FCA/NFA firm-register checks; complete region-specific funding, withdrawal and negative-balance terms; benchmarked platform execution; representative historical spread datasets; account-specific customer eligibility; verified dispute outcomes; and legally approved individual staff credentials remain unfinished. The staging website is blocked from public search indexing pending further editorial review.
