Avoid one-variable explanations
The World Gold Council’s July 2026 commentary discusses the competing influences of interest rates, the dollar, investor flows and risk perceptions. A dollar decline can coincide with gold gains, but that is not a law of physics and does not predict the next session.
Clarify the product
Spot XAU/USD, physical gold, gold mining shares, exchange-traded funds and leveraged derivatives involve different custody, leverage, tax and counterparty features. An analysis of the spot price should not silently be repurposed as advice about an individual fund.
